Detox Fast

What is Fasting?

Fasting is the willing, abstinence or reduction from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. A detox or fast whether it is a full juice fast, raw fruits & vegetables, or an herbal tea detox, encourages your body to expel any built-up toxins you are harboring in your organs and tissues. When done correctly the diet will stimulate your liver, kidney, and colon-which are the primary organs for removing toxins from your body,  and increase their efficiency and effectiveness during the detox, as well as after the detox has been completed.

When you fast, several things happen in your body on the cellular and molecular level. For example, your body adjusts hormone levels to make stored body fat more accessible. Your cells also initiate important repair processes and change the expression of genes.

Different Types of Fasts:

  • Partial Fast
  • Water Fast
  • Short Fast
  • Liquid Fast
  • Intermittent Fast
  • Blended Fast
  • Extended Fast
  • Raw Food Fast

Fasts Durations:

Fasting is a proven way to re-set your body’s biological clock and heal yourself from many different ailments. It allows your body to expel toxic waste and cells that were built by an unhealthy diet. There are various durations for different types of fasts. Depending on the fasting method that you choose, you want to focus only consuming the drink(s) and/or foods that are specific to your fast for the specified amount of time. It is highly recommend that you also take cleansing herbs, which help to accelerate healing and adds nutrients to the body.

Short Fast: An occasional fast that lasts from 24-36 hours. A short fast allows you to move gently into the discipline of a longer fast.

Intermittent Fast: Involves alternating cycles of eating and fasting. There are several different methods of intermittent fasting, all of which split the day or week into eating periods and fasting periods.

Extended Fast: A fast that lasts for a month or longer, and is very effective in detoxification, improving mental health, combating obesity, increasing the body’s ability to heal itself, promoting healthy skin, protecting heart health, and rejuvenating the body.

  • Blended Fast

    Smoothie Fast

A smoothie fast is based on replacing your regular meals with a balanced, nutrition-packed smoothie.

Detox smoothies are an easy and delicious way to flush your body of toxins and help lose weight fast. They usually contain fresh vegetables and fruit, and can be made with an ordinary kitchen blender or Vitamix machine. The typical detox smoothie recipe is full of vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and other healthful nutrients giving your body a detoxifying flush. They also contain large amounts of water, which helps to hydrate your body and boost metabolism.

Eating this way will not only reset your system, but your taste buds too! After 3 days on a smoothie diet, you will start to crave healthier food. And if you eat processed or fried food you will feel it, you’ll feel sluggish and bloated. Listen to your body, it will tell you what it wants to eat by how it feels 30-60 minutes after you eat.

    Liquid Fast

    Juice Fast

A liquid fast, also known as a cleanse or detox, usually entails drinking juices made from vegetables, herbs, and fruit (and occasionally nut milks) in addition to ample water, tea, and sometimes clear broths. There are many different varieties of juice cleanses. Some involve homemade juice made with fresh fruits and vegetables run through a juicer or pulverized in a blender, while others require store-bought juices.

Juicing fruits and vegetables is different from blending because it isolates the liquid of the produce from the pulp and fibrous portion. Therefore, fruit and vegetable juices will have a more concentrated amount of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals but less fiber when compared to something like a smoothie.

The concept of making juice from fruits or herbs for health benefits has been used through the ages. After the invention of the first modern juicing machine in the 1930s, alternative health practitioners began recommending juicing as a cure for a number of ailments.

Fruits and vegetables are filled with vitamins and minerals, and juicing extracts those nutrients making them easier to digest. Drinking juice is believed to flood the body with healing nourishment while also flushing toxins and waste. A juice cleanse supports the body’s natural detox processes, clears the diet of sugar, caffeine, refined foods, and other foods that can deplete energy, and jumpstarts a more healthful way of eating.

  • Raw Foods Fast

The raw food fast is composed of eating completely raw and unprocessed foods. A food is considered raw if it has never been heated over 104–118°F (40–48°C). It should also not be refined, pasteurized, treated with pesticides or otherwise processed in any way. The raw food fast is usually plant-based, being made up mostly of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

    Water Fast

A water fast is when a person does not eat and drinks nothing other than water. Throughout history, people have undertaken fasts for spiritual or religious reasons. But, water fasting is now popular in the natural health and wellness movements, often alongside meditation. However, water fasting has many risks and can be very dangerous if followed for too long. Most water fasts last 24–72 hours. You should not follow a water fast for longer than this without medical supervision.
